Yeley wins Better Half Dash: Kristen Yeley, the "better half" of NASCAR driver J.J. Yeley, held off the field to win the 4th annual Better Half Dash race Thursday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The race was supposed to be a 25-lap event but was shortened due to time constraints after a caution-filled event, ending with a green-white-checkered finish after eight laps. "It feels pretty good," said Yeley. "I've been doing this for four years, so it is really special. The foundation I am racing for is really close to me heart. My dear friend lost a child this past May and my girlfriend started the foundation to raise awareness for organ donation for children." The "better halves" were thrilled to learn they had raised nearly $70,000 for charities including Motor Racing Outreach, Speedway Children's Charities and a charity of the winning driver's choice. Heidi Stoddard, wife of NASCAR team owner Frankie Stoddard, finished second, and Melanie Self of Motor Racing Outreach was third. "I made a promise to Sherry Pollex and Shawna Robinson that I would see them in Victory Circle," said Self. "This was for these ladies who are fighting cancer." Rounding out the top five were Ashton Bayne (wife of Trevor Bayne) and Adriene Pattie (wife of crew chief Brian Pattie). Bayne started from the pole by virtue of her having the highest donation total, but she slipped to second when Yeley overtook her on lap four. Bayne was charging hard to retake the lead late in the race when she spun, relegating her to fourth. The remaining competitors finished as follows: Jenna Robinson (sixth), Jordan Fish (seventh), Karlee Hensley (eighth), Ashley Allgaier (ninth), Ashley Stremme (tenth) and Amy Reimann (11th).(Charlotte Motor Speedway)(10-10-2014)

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pit Stall Selections

Charlotte Motor Speedway

(NASCAR Statistics)

How are pit stall's chosen? by qualifying results, the 1st choose their stall and so on.
If a car/driver has to go to the rear of the field before the start of the race due to driver change, backup car,
engine/transmission change, etc they do NOT lose their pit stall selection

Jamie Price Wins 2014 Truck Driver Challenge: Jamie Price, transport driver for the #18 at Joe Gibbs Racing, has won the 2014 NASCAR Championship of the Pilot Flying J Truck Driver Challenge. Price wins his second title in the competition, along with the top prize of $30,000. Upon winning this year's NASCAR Championship, Price graciously thanked Pilot Flying J for the opportunity, stating, "Pilot Flying J does so much for us, I'm honored to be holding this trophy again!" Price continued, "I knew it was going to be close this year. I was really nervous after the final chicane, but this was worth the wait. There isn't anything else like this for the truck drivers in our sport, I make sure to only stop at Pilot Flying J to return the support they give us every year."
Price was joined at the podium by the president of Joe Gibbs Racing, JD Gibbs. Gibbs recognized the transport drivers of the Sprint Cup Series, saying, "Transport drivers have one of the hardest jobs in racing, making sure everything is set for each race, and getting to the track safely every week." Gibbs continued, "Congratulations to Jamie for this victory, and to all of you transport drivers who are a huge part of a team's success."
Finishing in second place was Tom McCrimmon, #20 Joe Gibbs Racing, claiming a prize of $7,500. Greg Sorber, #22 Team Penske, finished in the top-3 for the first time in his career, receiving a check for $2,500. Sorber makes good on his early-year promise to finish in the top-3, while McCrimmon finishes in the top-3 for an astounding seventh year consecutive year. For their promotion of safe driving, this year's top-3 NASCAR transport drivers also receive a new Rand McNally IntelliRoute TND 730 LM, the official GPS unit of the 2014 Pilot Flying J Truck Driver Challenge.(Pilot Flying J/Victory 500 Marketing)(10-10-2014)

I watched the qualifying last night and found it quite entertaining. Like a mini-race. I hope they keep that.

LOL! Yeah, tell that to Mama. She called from work bitching about all the Fans parked EVERYWHERE to go to JGR for the Autograph Session.

And the AM news had the reroute of traffic for Track access, they do it different every Race just to confuse Fans.

Couldn't even make 8 laps?

LOL! i know how it is... getting in can be tricky, but when the Glen lets out, the three main access routes are exit only-all lanes-no matter what.

Good BADyear warns teams that high speeds could impact tires: Goodyear has warned teams that increased speeds at Charlotte Motor Speedway will put a heavy emphasis on the right front tires in Saturday night's race - a potentially key development for drivers trying to advance in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. Stu Grant, general manager of worldwide racing for Goodyear, said Friday the tire manufacturer provided durability guidelines a day earlier for teams to use in their preparations. #41-Kurt Busch set the track record in Thursday qualifying with a lap at 198.771 mph. It broke #11-Denny Hamlin's record of 195.624 set in 2013 and was the fastest lap ever recorded on a 1.5-mile track. Busch's speed was also almost 4 mph faster than the lap #48-Jimmie Johnson turned to win the pole in May. Although the pace of Saturday night's race will slow compared to qualifying speeds, Goodyear felt teams needed to be informed, particularly after championship contenders #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. and #2-Brad Keselowski both blew right front tires last week at Kansas and are in danger of being eliminated from the Chase. Keselowski's tire went back to North Carolina from Kanas with Team Penske, and was received by Goodyear on Thursday for further analysis at its Akron, Ohio, facility. Goodyear does not have Earnhardt's tire because Hendrick Motorsports was doing its own examination and had yet to ship it to Akron. Goodyear officials did look over both tires at Kansas, but Grant said "nothing jumped out at us." Damage appeared to be to the inside shoulder, belt-edge. In the past, Goodyear has found that teams were too aggressive with either their air pressure or camber settings, causing tire failures. Earnhardt crew chief Steve Letarte and Keselowski crew chief Paul Wolfe both told Goodyear their setups were not aggressive enough to cause tire failures.(Associated Press)(10-11-2014)
