And it does not get as cold here as it does where you are-seldom below 16-20 degrees at night, so heat lamps or small electric heaters are adequate for young chicks/ducks in even a detached garage, as lo9ng as they are in a walled container so drafts don’t reach them.

A neighbor across the road now has some ducks-I heard them quacking, and saw them wandering by his fence in front when I drove out of the driveway yesterday-looks like they are to be self-propelled lawn ornaments, because they are mallards and other fancy-colored ones-not the ordinary brown or white ducks...

Still raining on and off here. Temps dropped into the low 60s.

It is drizzling now and then with a little breeze from the north and has dropped to 62-I went at the nearest butcher shop yesterday-right near the ranch store-and got some local free range beef-I just lighted the grill to cook a nice, rare steak and I have some fresh spinach to steam-yum...

I like just about all fresh veggies, either raw or lightly steamed. I think the reason a lot of people don’t like veggies is because the way most people cook veggies is to throw them into boiling water till they are limp and tasteless-and pour the water out along with most of the nutrients that were in the vegetables. What is left is no different from what comes in a can-just with less salt. I won’t touch veggies that have been cooked like that unless I’m starving...

That is ideal, but it only happens here for a very short time in the Spring and Fall...

One of my favorite food sins is fried okra, but I don’t cook it at home-I don’t fry anything...

Clearly, public skool district officials in this Nebraska town are in DESPERATE need of a little satori.

District tells teachers to call students 'purple penguins' instead of 'girls and boys'

Where is everybody this morning? Did the school get moved while I was absent?

A+++ I think we need to rid our schools of leftist idiots. It’s our only hope.

That was mildly interesting, as was the OT of the Bengals game before it.

There is a lot of bad football being played in the NFL. Do you ever remember so many blowouts as there have been this year?

In spite of the in-game altercations, there seemed to be no bad feelings between players at the end.
