Getting the truth out of Obamas mouthpieces would require the maieutic methodology of Socrates, a technique unavailable at their press conferences.

For many people, thinking logically is at least as painful as giving birth.

Old joke from my Borscht Belt youth:
Guy and girl riding in a tiny sports car, pull up in front of a motel. She's all hot to trot and says: "Quick, get out of the car before I get out of the mood."
He replies: "If I don't get out of the mood, I can't get out of the car."

For many people, thinking logically is at least as painful as giving birth.They're called democrats. That's why their abortion rate is so high and their intelligence is so low.

Using maieutics to
convince the great unwashed that abortion is a wonderful thing.Pollitt aims her book at the muddled middle who have been infected by the awfulization [of abortion] without thinking about it that much. To win them back shes crafted a lengthy Socratic response dissecting the contradictions on the pro-life side. Socratic? Please. Note who the muddled (or mushy) middle is, besides being infected (gosh, now were reduced to spreading viruses?). In fact, as polling data going back decades reveals, it refers to all those Americans who are told they are pro-choice when, in fact, they oppose the reasons for which 90%+ of all abortions are performed. Rosin/Pollitt might concede the numbers (not my conclusion, of course), but counter thats just they havent had the benefit of reading Ms. Socrates wisdom. Just one other point (there are at least four or five more worth considering but
). For reasons that make sense only to the hard-core pro-abortionist, Pollitt believes (Rosin writes) that the moral high ground is in reclaiming the right to have an abortion, regardless of the circumstances.

A+++ Extra Credit.
By an amazing coincidence, Katha Pollitt was a high school classmate of Mrs. Truth.

Logic and morality have no place in liberal society. One cannot bleed a stone or expect reason from a progressive. The left provides countless cases in which Socrates’ maieutic method has no effect.

The reasoning is quite maieutic,
And requires no new pharmaceutic:
Halt all incoming flights
Where Ebola’s a blight-
The result will be more therapeutic.
