I have said this for years:

Stop putting doctors and especially nurses on pedestals.

I have met and went to school with many dumb, clueless, and or mean hateful nurses.
And I an including ALL nurses in this. RN’s included.

They are not all the smart, kind caregivers we hope they are.

This moronic, selfish nurse is a case in point.

What kind of supposedly educated person travels to their loved ones while possibly sick with a deadly disease?

If I was possibly infected, I would keep myself as far away from loved ones as possible. Plus try to minimize contact with strangers. This woman is a piece of garbage.

Let me clarify my above comment.

I meant I am including all CATEGORIES of nurses. Not all nurses.

There are many good nurses. Just not all.

Yes, this is true! I’ve been treated by nurses who you could tell cared not one iota about my health or any other random patient. It was just their “job.” They weren’t very pleasant or caring individuals, including two I knew casually in a non-clinical setting. My daughter is currently studying to be a nurse. She’s finding it challenging but so far is getting A’s. I’m very proud of her right now:) Especially since none of us come from a college background. Hearing about all this Ebola does have her second-guessing her choice though....

Thank you! I never spent a day in a hospital and was neutral toward medical “professionals” until the births of my children. Almost every nurse each time was an arrogant, know-it-all b****, some of whom tried to make me do some of their work, which included changing diapers. I’ll do that at home but at $800/day (from the bill), I don’t care who is paying, THEY are going to do their damned jobs while my kids are still in the hospital.

While I actually agree with you re: nurses, I think you're being too hard on this kid. Hindsight is 20/20. She's young, she probably thought she was invincible.

Was what she did irresponsible and foolish? Absolutely. But calling her a piece of garbage is uncalled for.

By the way, my wife is a nurse. I know there are lots of good, professional nurses. But there are also lots of nurses who sit around and gab at the nurses' station while their patients get less than excellent care.
