No, I was hired as a grad student to write a 20 page pamphlet at minimum wage on the history of banking in AZ. But as an entrepreneur, I decided to write a quality CHAPTER of a book and convince the Arizona Bankers Assoc. that this was what they needed, only more chapters. They agreed.

I have a friend who had to give up as a screenwriter in LA, moved to Texas, and just got a multi-book deal for his fiction books.

Writers write, all the time. Keep at it. Write anything you can, articles, travelguides, whatever.
