The article didn’t say the guy had her car keys. I’m guessing she used her car keys to unlock her car, get the ammo, load her gun and fired the warning shot.

I think the woman was still a little upset and incoherent My guess is, the gun was loaded but she had locked the rest of her ammunition in the glove box. As for her calling the magazine a "clip". I don't get upset over nomenclature. Life ain't a run by a gunsmith or range master. Reading the story, I could not help but wonder if maybe the US bombing of ISIS is doing better than we thought and we have killed all the goats.
