Personal life

Main article: Personal life of Wilt Chamberlain

Chamberlain was exceptionally high-earning as a professional athlete. When playing for Philadelphia, he commuted from New York. Typically he awoke at noon and stayed up late into the night. Moving to Los Angeles, he built a magnificently luxurious residence in Bel Air, yet he rarely hired a housekeeper, cooked his own food and washed dishes by hand.[154] He reported 20,000 sexual relationships with women and never married or had children, completely per his intention. He owned expensive cars and left an estate valued at US$25 million in 2000. He considered himself a Republican.[155]

Death

Chamberlain died of congestive heart failure on the morning of October 12, 1999 at his home in Bel Air of Los Angeles, California. He was 63.
