I’m not sure whom that hitter was offhand, but you are right that may have won the series, and his bonehead slide lost it if so.
Bet the rent he likely never thought the hit would be caught, let alone the runner at 2nd being suddenly thrown out....about 30 feet from 1st he knew he was suddenly in real trouble...So he just went head first...
