The Rise and Fall of the American Empire.

All empires fall. Rome... Persia... United Kingdom...

In the 1960's way way way before I was born. The American Empire sent a man to the moon.

30 years later...

America is dependent on Russian rockets to supply their own Astronauts.

All Empires fall.

It is the nature of society.

Where did America go wrong?

Where did America go wrong? It started with Dr. Spock, a man who never had children, telling everyone how to raise their children. The first thing was no spanking.

When the Roman empire collapsed, was it Christian or was it pagan?

I wanna tell you ‘bout Texas Radio and the Big Beat
Comes out of the Virginia swamps
Cool and slow with plenty of precision
With a back beat narrow and hard to master

Some call it heavenly in it’s brilliance
Others, mean and rueful of the Western dream
I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft
We have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping
This is the land where the Pharaoh died

The Negroes in the forest brightly feathered
They are saying, “Forget the night.
Live with us in forests of azure.
Out here on the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned - immaculate.”

Listen to this, and I’ll tell you ‘bout the heartache
I’ll tell you ‘bout the heartache and the lose of God
I’ll tell you ‘bout the hopeless night
The meager food for souls forgot
I’ll tell you ‘bout the maiden with wrought iron soul

I’ll tell you this
No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn

Getting pretty tired of the formulation “America is doomed because Rome”.

Indeed - if America is doomed, it is because of the left. Leftism ALWAYS takes down a country if it is allowed to flourish.

It’s best not to confuse the end of one set of political arrangements for the end of the world.

Thank you for admitting the facts, but spare me whatever stoner nonsense you keep posting on why in your fantasy, we are an empire because of tshirts and soda pop.

You clearly only see one side of the equation.

You seem to reflect some kinda pure “Isolationist” stance ?

We are an empire because we are the only country that selfishly promotes the fundamental character of the individual.

Historically speaking, this has never been done before and as a result the left is threatened and wants to paint this natural effort as something that is wrong.

.....Therefore, the left calls it an “Empire”.

As if it is a bad thing.

Well, I for one embrace this Empire.

So you’re saying it was good that Rome fell and likewise it will be good when America falls. Presumably because America has lost its way and deserves to fall. Do I have this about right?

Neither is good, in my opinion.

In regard to political arrangements, Christianity has no more merit than paganism without Biblical morality.

The Dark Ages were a more difficult time than Pax Romana, and I expect the coming Dark Age to be a more difficult time than the immediate past.

We are seeing right before our eyes how the unshakeable superstitions of diversity and anthropogenic climate change are undermining the basis of modern life. Rational science is something most thought we could never lose a short generation ago.

Well yeah, it won’t be good when America inevitably falls, but it will be deserved. Deserved because America has abandoned Biblical morality.

So just as Rome was doomed to fall, so is America, and deservedly so.

Is this about right?

I wouldn’t say ‘doomed’, but yes.

I believe that God will find a way to allow a set of political arrangements to thrive that promote His morality. A culture that understands this can lead, or at least follow. A culture that, as a whole, consciously rejects Biblical morality will not last more than a few generations.

And when America inevitably falls, will it have a purifying effect? In other words, will America, or what remains of it, be a better country after a collapse? And if the answer is yes, then shouldn’t we actually welcome the collapse in a certain sense?

I personally think that’s too big a question.

People seem to love the apocalyptic. Most of us are tempted to perverse pleasure at others’ pain if it means being proven right. Maybe it will just be a slow, shabby decline. That’s almost a worse punishment; God is clever that way.

Our obligation is to build, both personally and culturally, no matter where we’re at, and to the best of our abilities.

Doing good is purifying. The death of evil perhaps just leaves more room for the good.

Sorry, but where in the Bible does it say that things are going to get better?

Where did America go wrong?

Two ways.

1. Enshrining in law the notion that Teens and Twenty-somethings whose awareness of history begin on heir birthdate and are thus therefore entitled to vote. And...

2. That they have the judgment that can only result from experience, without the benefit of personal effort, education, a grasp of the history of the culture one is joining, access to normal intellectual capacity, or facility with the common language. The only criterion seems to be years lived, by which criterion many parrots, tortoises and fish should qualify.

In other words, "egalitarianism." If that is noble, is not "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" the ultimate nobleness?

When we kicked God out, we welcomed trouble.

I can't speak for you, but I didn't kick God out. I had no say in the matter.

He was simply replaced de Jure by functional illiterates with pro-sodomy victims.
