Harris County Precinct 6 constable Victor Trevino pleaded guilty Monday to misapplication of fiduciary property, a day after beginning trial on allegations that he diverted money from his charity for personal use.
He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for the felony, and has asked the judge to decide punishment after a sentencing hearing on Nov. 17.
The Precinct 6 constable was indicted almost two years ago on several charges accusing him of financial misconduct. He was first elected to office 26 years ago. He will resign from office on Tuesday. He also will have to surrender his state license that allows him to carry a weapon.

Trevino was a constable for 26 years in Houston. The local ABC station investigated accusations that he was running a charity scam in his district, and that investigator is to be credited with gathering enough evidence for the DA to take the case.
For years we have heard Trevino deny all claims. He was even reelected during this scandal. The trial began last Friday but today, after hearing all of the evidence they had against him he pled guilty. He will probably get a slap on the wrist but at least he didn’t waste more money on a lengthy trial.

Oddly enough, after 26 years of working for the local ABC affiliate, the investigative reporter who broke this story, as well as several other big corruption stories in Houston, mysteriously left the station. Rumor was that some of the higher ups were getting nervous about outting so many corrupt politicians in Houston

Sorry - even after all these years here, I think this is my second article to ever post. I wasn't sure how much I could post. Trevino was rumored to have a lot of local businesses in his district who routinely "donated" to his charity. Weekly, in some cases. He would sign the checks at a local convenience store and pocket the cash.
He was also accused of using county employees to gather his donations, as well as handle the very few actual charity linked things that was done with the cash. Basically it was a slush fund he used to keep being reelected.

I remember watching the series of this investigation and then being so shocked when he was reelected. I forgot I lived in “Philly South”... his hispanic electorate would reelect him no matter what, just as Sheila Jackson Lee keeps being reelected
