Strangest stuff happens on construction sites.
I was on the roof of the Con-Ed power plant on NYC’s West Side right off the Hudson River inspected roof work around new equipment framing. Had my hard hat on backwards kneeling under the steel when I heard this booming metalic thud and loud smack. Froze in place for a few seconds and after untorquing my sphincter, slowly pivoted keeping myself covered. About two feet behind was a fish about a foot and a half long. Rose and looked around, nobody on that huge roof but me. Figured a gull or hawk had dropped his lunch. Took a photo and included it my draft report for Con-Ed project mgr review, citing it as evidence that Con-Ed had some serious roof ponding problems. It got a double take. Never did identify the fish.
