If you have the money a 500 is a durable and effective pump. I have one which I take as a backup to my venerable 1100 when I bird hunt. I have a short barrel and pistol grip for the 500. I don’t know what a original Benelli barrel to cut down my cost or if a after mkt is available. If you have a 500, it is always there and ready. I live in a suburban area and do not load buck shot in the event I did use it to not fear for .32 pellet going through my window into a neighbors. 7 1/2 to 4’s are more than capable in ranges in a house.

Thank, I have looked into some cheaper ones, since this will strictly be a HD weapon if new than no reason to spend too much for something that may never get used. As long as it goes bang thats really all i care about.

There are tac barrels for the SN... but maybe better off just getting a dif gun...

and pistol grip for the 500.

When selecting a defensive weapon you should imagine the DA holding it up in front of the jury at your murder trial and saying "Ladies and Gentlemen, look at State's Exhibit 1, the gun that the Defendant admits he used to kill the deceased..."

You want State's Exhibit 1 to look like grandpa's shotgun, and not like something out of Call of Duty: Urban Ops.
