Boehner: Obama ‘Playing with Matches’ on Amnesty, and ‘He’s Going to Burn Himself’
National Review ^ | 11/06/2014 | Brendan Bordelon

Republican House speaker John Boehner warned President Obama ...

“I’ve made clear to the president that if he acts unilaterally on his own, outside of authority, he will poison the well,” Boehner said in a Thursday press conference. “And there will be no chance for immigration reform moving in this Congress. It’s as simple as that.”

The speaker trotted out the same warning when pressed on whether executive action would be a “catalyst” for congressional immigration action, as the White House has suggested. “When you play with matches, you take the risk of burning yourself,” he cautioned. “And [President Obama] is going to burn himself if he continues to go down this path.”

In USSR they still had to build fences, only to keep people in instead of out. I guess they would need it here to keep taxpayers in.

Boner is CEDING that immigration reform IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

Boner is only arguing that it has to be a Congressional GOPe accomplishment, not a unilateral Executive Branch accomplishment.

Boner has never shutup about finding a way to get amnesty for illegals done. He’ll use Obama’s threats to act alone as an excuse to “find common ground” and “to get things done”.

I heard him say, earlier today on our local news break, that he’ll put forth legislation to FIX 0bolaCare. I’m not encouraged by that as I don’t want 0bolaCare FIXED. Nor, do I want any kind of immigration REFORM.

Fixing and reforming are NOT words of encouragement, to me.

Since that aired on the news break, earlier, I’ve now seen links to him using the word “REPEAL”. Maybe the pressure/phone calls/etc are finally getting to him.

This election was a mandate to STOP 0bolaCare and to send illegals home and truly secure our borders.

Too many of the GOPe are using phrases like “work together”. They’re trying to change the narrative.

“Reform” doesn’t automatically mean amnesty.

Playing with matches is what simple-minded children such as the moron-n-thief do. Hope they go third degree.

I watched it and he did say repeal. Said the House has wanted to repeal but Reid would not bring it up in Senate. Then he said if they can’t get complete repeal done, they can piecemeal it.

Right now it is all smiles and let’s work together. Rats still run the senate.

Yeah, but you know Boner wants Amnesty. So, while it would be arguable with someone else, with Boner, I’m not wrong.

House Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan, and Judiciary Committee chairman Bob Goodlatte, among others, are developing the “principles” in a process coordinated by Boehner’s new top immigration adviser, Becky Tallent. Tallent worked for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), a member of the Senate Gang of Eight, for years, having helped write the failed immigration bill McCain pushed with the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) in the final years of the Bush administration.

The “principles,” the Wall Street Journal wrote, will grant legalization – amnesty – to illegal aliens and would give corporate CEOs exactly what they want: more cheap labor in the form of more tech visas, more importing of low-skilled labor, and other measures that would harm the over 100 million American workers out of the workforce right now.

John Boehner need to play the OVERRIDE card to Obama. the public is already tired of Obama, when he starts vetoing all these bills Democrats will tire quickly and cower to public pressure. Some of the districts they were elected from are now Republican and they know it. For self perseveration they will side with Republicans on some veto override votes.

[President Obama] is going to burn himself if he continues to go down this path

Not in his black asbestos suite with a couple of fire companies surrounding him in the form of the US media.

I guarantee the steel spined Republicans will reverse any immigration executive order as quick as you can say “repeal Obamacare”

I listened to his entire presser. I thought he was very clear on obamacare. He said,(paraphrasing) “I don’t like it, the people don’t like it. It has cost jobs and added expenses to the middle class.” He said he expected it to be repealed the first part of next year. I thought he was very clear, we will see.
