In the article, a slip of the truth. The officer was in trouble before and just shuffled off to another city. This happens A LOT! A bad cop busts a head, steals, gropes... gets caught, the department fires him to look as if they have done something but in truth, they found a nice home for him somewhere else and in turn, take in one of the bad apples from another city or town. Some of these jokers get away with 8 or 10 minor crimes before they do something really horrid and most reporters are uncaring enough to dig into his past.

It is not uncommon at all to move a bad teacher or cop to another town so that they can serve their remaining years on the job and collect their pension. It is one of the issues the unions work the hardest.

NYSERS = New York State Employees Retirement System

NYSPFRS = New York State Police and Fireman's Retirement System

NYSTRS = New York State Teachers

I have no problem with good police and firemen getting a decent pension. First responders should also be paid more than a clerk who was in charge of fish hatcheries for 35 years. But what we need to address are police who are acting out of control now that these gun laws have been passed that are clearly unconstitutional.

Certain cops feel empowered to abuse their citizens and the public they are supposed to serve.

Actually, it appears he was a Saratoga County deputy at the time of the other [known] incident, as well.

In 1999, the town of Wilton and Saratoga County paid $6 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the family of a 45-year-old man left paralyzed when a patrol car being driven by Glans smashed head-on into the other vehicle, according to a Times Union article on the case.
