Show me an agency that haven’t had an accidental discharge and I’ll show you an agency that doesn’t carry firearms.

It can happen, but there exists a protocol for handling guns to prevent it.
The investigation will show that someone was negligent and did not follow said protocol.

I agree, there is no reason for an accidental discharge unless in the heat of an out of control situation.

A negligent discharge. Obviously the officer neglected to follow the first rule of firearm safety. EVERY GUN IS ALWAYS LOADED.

Are these the kinds of cops you would want responding to your 911 call? Is there anyone who DOESN’T think it is a good idea to unload weapons before doing anything with them?

No good reason, anyway. “Familiarity” leads to complacency. On autopilot, shooting the breeze, or otherwise not fully engaged in the simple task of making sure the weapon is safe, BEFORE starting to clean it.

True, most AD’s are caused by a breakdown in firearms protocols or the manual of arms for that particular weapon. being a law enforcement firearms instructor and armorer I’ve caught a few incidents that if I had’t interceded would’ve turned out ugly.

I unload my guns before cleaning them, it’s just a habit I picked up.

My glock has been loaded for 10 years and hasn’t had this problem.

I’ve owned Glocks since they first came out. Swear by them. I first bought one because it’s almost as simple as a revolver and has more capacity. Even I doin’t buy the BS about Glock having 3 useful safties. I just treat them as a revolver with a 5.5 lb trigger.

Show me an agency that havent had an accidental discharge and Ill show you an agency that doesnt carry firearms.Exactly why I never chamber a round unless I am threatened. I will never have to explain to the ER physician why I shot myself in the butt.
