36 Million People Live in Modern Slavery, Report Says

The Global Slavery Index published by the Walk Free Foundation finds that 35.8 million men, women and children live in modern slavery due to incidents like trafficking, debt bondage or forced marriages. Modern slavery contributes to the production of at least 122 goods from 58 countries.

The prevalence is estimated to have increased since 2013, the report notes, but that’s largely thanks to more precise measuring.

Among the findings: The continents with the most difficulty eradicating slavery are Africa and Asia; Europe has the fewest modern-day slaves; and the nations with governments making strong efforts to prevent slavery despite low resources are Georgia, the Philippines, Jamaica and Macedonia. Beyond that, all countries except North Korea have legislation criminalizing some form of modern slavery.

The REAL slaves are those of us who are forced to pay taxes to a government hell bent on tyranny.

They forgot to add all of the people who’ve sold themselves into indentured servitude for their student loans.

The number is too low!!! Just think of the total population of the Islamic countries and then realize that half of them are female. That is the base value for slavery numbers in the world. Any other countries that have slavery only add to the base value.

There - I have fixed it.

What about all those in the US dependant on the government for survival. Is that not also a form of slavery?

if the study doesn’t include the US of A, it is a flawed study. Try to sell baked goods from your kitchen. uber your car in Philly.

Try to sell baked goods from your kitchen.

Try to not sell backed goods to homosexuals, try to not buy health insurance, try to avoid income tax, try to avoid paying a bitter ex-wife the divorce settlement, try to avoid your master's surveillance, try to purchase a 100watt lightbulb, try in the west to collect rainwater that falls on your roof, try to avoid paying rent for your land (property tax). If your life is lived away from the city try to see your legislator with out having to pay parking fee of $10 or more.

The question is not how many are enslaved, the question is how much are they enslaved and what mechanisms are used to keep them on the metaphoric plantation.

That’s not true!

Only privileged white male Southerners ever kept slaves in the whole history of the world.

Ask Jesse or Al.
