Woman at Ben Taub will be tested for Ebola
HOUSTON - Local 2 has learned a woman at Ben Taub Hospital is now being tested for Ebola.
The woman was transported to the hospital with Ebola-like symptoms Monday night.
She claims she had recently visited West Africa. Hours after being admitted to the hospital, the city health department said the woman did not meet the criteria to be tested.
Now, we're being told the tests will be conducted even though the woman is low risk for the virus. Her test samples have been sent to Austin and the results are expected back on Wednesday night and health officials believe it is highly unlikely that she will test positive.
This is a developing story and we will provide updates when new details become available.

El PASO, Texas Ysleta Independent School District officials were notified Tuesday morning that the sibling of a student at East Point Elementary school has been placed under Ebola watch in accordance to guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Somebody put her on a plane to a cruise ship location pronto!
I do not want to hear that her first test is negative.
I want to hear that her test 2 or 3 weeks from now is negative.

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
