Great Dane delivers huge litter of 19 puppies

YORK HAVEN, Pa., - Great Danes normally give birth to eight puppies per litter. But Snowy, a Great Dane from York Haven, Pa., recently delivered 19 puppies.

Owners Brandon and Aimie Terry told WHTM that they had no idea Snowy was expecting so many pups.

"We made an appointment to take her into the vet and they did an X-Ray and found out there were 15 little spines on the X-Ray," they said.

Hoping to clear out their home, the family is selling all but one of the three-week-old puppies on PuppyFind.com. They cost $850 each.

"It's starting to get crazy," Terry told Today. "It was okay last week, but now this week, they're starting to break loose. You try to feed them and you try to get them situated. You've got to watch where you step. You've got to watch behind your feet."

Having cared for our daughter’s 165 pound GD, I can’t imagine having twenty of them.

I can see eleven nursing on her in that photo. The owners ought to separate them into two groups of 9 and 10; and feed half of them by hand every other time. That poor doggie mom.

Those pups are too young to sell at 3 weeks!

It doesn’t say the 3 weeks old are being taken away from mom yet.

Fairly normal for folks to reserve their pup before it is weened.

I don’t think you could feed her enough to make milk for 19 puppies.

I understand the life expectancy of that breed is only about six years.
