22LR shot breaks clay pigeons, dispatches small varmints effectively, and briefly immobilizes the larger catagory.

I found a YouTube video that reviews those rounds. The pellets are tiny (#12 shot,) and you have to stand within a couple feet from the snake to shoot it. This can be done only to a snake that is made from plastic :-)
A far better choice is to use a 9mm snakeshot. The advantage of that is much higher power, and the fact that a 9mm (or similar) handgun can be used for anything. A hunter can use it to dispatch a snake, to shoot wounded game, and for self-defense. A .22LR is not very good for any of that. Here is a review of a 9mm snake shot. Note that even a 9mm shell has to be fired from 5 to 10 feet away, or else you won't get much shot onto the target. Experience with a .22LR shot is understandably worse.
Still, I might want to get a box of each next time I buy something - just for a test.
