I view sin as anything that hinders us in performing Jesus’ two commandments...
Love God......
Love our neighbors as ourselves... (Keep in mind self Love is critically important as without it we create a shield with our guilt that blocks us from accepting God’s unconditional Love.)
Note the common word in these two commandments is LOVE
I agree, and again, its very simple, so simple even and atheist could understand.
