The University of Massachusetts Amherst severed its ties Wednesday to alumnus Bill Cosby, joining a growing number of colleges to distance themselves from the entertainer amid accusations he sexually assaulted more than a dozen women.

Cosby, who received a master’s and a doctorate in education from the college, was an honorary co-chairman of the school’s ongoing $300 million fund-raising campaign. He and his wife, Camille, donated several hundred thousand dollars to the school, and the comedian was frequently cited in the past as one of the university’s most notable alumni.

He was still useful for fund raising. Not quite sure why they're [ZooMass] is cutting ties now.

The current lame-duck governor of MA is black, a buddy of Obola, and a wannabe BHO 2.0.

A big supporter of rapists and even, iirc, let his registered sex offender ex-BiL stay with him for a while, without registering him, before being governor, but still as an officer of the court, he should have been reprimanded.

Maybe Elizabeth Warren's supporters said something.

I’ve cut all ties with the Bill Clinton library.

Sounds like Cosby shoots straight. Too bad they can’t handle the truth. “Football hero”. Lol

I thought Cosby got a stand ovation at an FL appearance the other night?

It’s just so out of character for UMass-Amherst at this point in the slo-mo Cosby drama.

A couple of things. This is as much about his criminal behavior as it is about their endowment. It is to tell big donors itd ok to come in the water is fine. I knew some folks who had some exposure to their fundraising apparatus, like many big schools it is a machine unto itself.

Crosby is a comedian an actor and a consummate storyteller who played to his paid audience in Florida. They weren’t there to boo him.

Yeah, he really is Mr. Hyde. Everyone in Hollywood has known about this for years. A friend of mine from Philly, Cosby's hometown, said he grew up on stories about what an entitled jerk he is. Robert Culp couldn't stand him.

A friend last night was telling me a story about a girl he knows who was friends with Cosby's daughter at college. Cosby came on to her very forcefully, but she managed to push him off. Afterwards Cosby told his daughter to stay away from the girl because she was a "bad influence."

In recent days, there’s been an interview with Culp’s long-time publicist who offered another glimpse of “Cos’s” real personna.

According to the publicist, when Cosby was hired for “I Spy,” the producers (and NBC) were prepared to give him lower billing. Culp insisted that Cosby be listed as the series co-star, a move that raised his salary by thousands of dollars every week. At the time, a black actor had never been co-star on a network series, and there was reluctance to extend that status to Cosby, who was a red-hot stand-up comic, but had virtually no acting experience. So, Robert Culp went out on a limb for his co-star.

In 2010, when Robert Culp died, Cosby initially refused to attend his memorial service. When he finally agreed to show up, he made it clear that he would not speak at the service.
What gratitude.

My thoughts, too, when I heard this. Everything else aside, it’s surprising for such a HUGE LIBERAL institution to do something like this on accusations alone. Often they won’t even act if something is proven.
