Peccary (Javelina) roam in packs. Adults weigh from 50-100 pounds. If you wind up in the middle of them, they can be aggressive. Look out for the sharp tusks. Have a carry with a large magazine. But, hunting is best with a rifle.

I`ve read about them, they are supposed to be aggressive and protective of their pack mates. Is it true that if you shoot and wound one, when it cries out they`ll all come to it`s aid and attack you?

Over 40 years ago, when I was in the Air Force, at one of my TDY assignments in Texas some of us went javelin hunting through the R & G (the base Rod & Gun Club). We used 1903 Springfields (.30-06) that the R & G supplied. Lots of fun.
