Sex offender grabs at cop's gun in struggle to avoid shoplifting arrest, police allege

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A registered sex offender bashed a police officer's face with a credit card reader and grabbed at another officer's gun as he tried to escape a shoplifting arrest, police allege.
The violent episode unfolded at the Kohl's store at 2239 Forest Ave. in Mariners Harbor just before 8 p.m. Friday, after security guards spotted Tyreek Wilson, 20, trying to steal clothing, according to police.
Wilson, of Wayne Street in West Brighton, was sentenced to 10 years' probation after being convicted of second-degree attempted rape in November 2012. His victim was a 13-year-old girl, according to state sex offender records.

In a normal society a rapist of a child wouldn't be sentenced to 10 years of probation. His punishment would be over much faster.
he got probation for attempting to rape a 13 year old???????the judge in that case should disbarred!!

I like your solution, but even better, I have been advocating “half way houses” next to soft on crime judges homes for years, funny they never seem to get located in the judge’s neighborhoods. 10 yrs PROBATION for attempted rape of a 13 yr old? Good Lord! Our judicial system at work.
