This isn’t the 1950s or ‘60s. The authorities *will* prosecute these days. And a jury trial would be incredibly compelling. She was 15 years old when before and after he raped her, according to her. So none of the nonsense about implanted memories.
The statute of limitations for rape is long. Certainly longer than five years.
And here’s the real zinger. The man is a rapist. Until he is stopped do you think he will limit his raping to just his daughter? What if he is in a position of authority over other children?
This story is only part of a story. Until her father is in prison, the abortion is a secondary issue. A rapist is on the loose.
The story was published in 1993. Given this, it would mean the abortion happened in 1988, and the author would now be about 41.
I agree with everything you and others have said about dear old dad needing to be locked up, but I wanted to make sure people were aware that this crime happened 26 years ago.
