I once visited a school for special needs kids in Seattle. I went with friends who had business there. There didn't seem to be many people present, and I thought classes might have been over for the day. While wandering around I discovered an empty auditorium with an unlocked grand piano, so I sat down and started playing, mostly improvising. After about 15 minutes I glanced up and was surprised to see that I had acquired an audience of maybe eight teenage kids. I hadn't wanted to disturb anyone, so I wound up my piano playing, stood up, and closed the key cover.
They cheered and gave me a long standing ovation. I'll never forget it. My most appreciative audience ever. When I spoke with them it became obvious why they were in the school, but the feeling I got being around them was exactly what Crowder describes. So much warmth, so much happiness!
