And now you don't know the rest of the story.

Now wait a minute! If I remember correctly, Wallace was shot with a 5 shot .38 Spl Charter Arms pistol not in production in 1951!
This shooting revealed the motive behind the anti-gunners as they began to demand a ban of “Saturday Night Specials” whereas in the past they “only” wanted to register them!

Isn’t this gun evidence of a crime? Who put it up for auction?

Made in Charter's first factory in Bridgeport, CT.

George Wallace was shot on May 15, 1972, not 1952.

15 to 30 grand? That’s crazy. I have a near mint 1957 made S&W Airweight Cheif in 38 Special that I’ll sell you outright for HALF that price...........oh, it has the original box too. :)
To: CrazyIvan
Both used a .38 Charter Arms, same as the Son of Sam used a .44 spl Charter arms.
Sirhan Sirhan used an Iver Johnson Cadet .22.
Squeaky Frome attempted to use a 1911 .45 on Reagan.
I never forget a firearm.

That is, Gerald FORD!
Hinkley used a cheap .22 RG on Reagan.

I think this is rather tasteless.
If they sell the M-4 that capped Obama bin Laden, that would be worth something.

“Hinkley used a cheap .22 RG on Reagan.”
Handled a few of them in my lifetime. One fell apart in my hand. Talk about pot metal junk. Basically a starter’s pistol converted to shoot 22 rounds.

We used to say that RG stood for “Rotten Gun”. When I was a kid, I would see these revolvers advertised in various outdoor magazines for $12.00.
I was thinking of ordering one when I was around 12 but fortunately ran into someone who actually had owned one. He told me it was junk so I saved my money.

Interesting to me is that according to “John Browning, American Gunmaker”, of all his great firearm designs, Browning’s favorite was the little .32 auto.
It probably also saved FN from bankruptcy. They turned out over a million of them in just a few years.
