Big XII probably out for CFP [College Football/Vanity]

The big win by the Buckeyes probably put them into the final four of the College Football Playoff. The rankings by the committee (due in about 25 hours) are likely going to be:

Tide
Ducks
Noles
Bucks

It’s a hell of a lot better than Ohio State’s schedule. Wisconsin is the second good team that Ohio State has played all year (after Michigan St.)

Call me weird, but if you’re the only one in a major conference to WIN ALL OF YOUR GAMES, you’re a top contender. Any system that doesn’t take this into account is subjective nonsense.

Oh, how I’d love to see THE OSU massacred by Bama. Won’t happen, though. (I’m in NW Arkansas and work for a company based in Columbus, BTW).

That is a Neyland Maxim.

The team that makes the fewest mistakes win.

Yep, Baylor doesn’t belong either.

Some funny game day signs from Baylor fans.

I guess we’ll find out before too long if these really are playoffs or just lip service.
Sorry to say, I anticipate a B(C)S redux.
Imagine the NFL, NBA—or NCAA basketball beginning it’s “playoffs” with ... the Final Four.
Like I said, it’s BcS.

The call was solid and all the analysts agreed. A pick like that by the Irish offense is illegal.

Frankly, at this point, I would shaft the Big 12=10 for declaring co-champions in the conference with the motto “One true champion”.

Somehow, one way or another, the Big XII needs to live up to its name and get back to a dozen teams complete with a conference playoff. During all the turmoil with realignment a few years back, I held out some hope that Arkansas would revive some semblance of the SWC by joining a revised Big XII. The other team that I thought would be a good fit was Louisville.

A number one offense is great.

A defense that allows 58 points should not be up for national contention when there are better options.

Must have derailed their entire season. Go watch them in Charlotte. Maybe they can give up the gay madness for a week.

And if such a matchup would occur (although I highly doubt OSU will make the playoffs), I would be more than happy to see the such a game.

If OSU would happen to win with their 3rd string quarterback versus your omnipotent SEC perennial powerhouse Alabama, I would be more than interested to see your reaction to such an improbable scenario.

I remember very well when the unbeatable Buckeyes were humbled by Florida several years ago, and I was able to acknowledge that they were outmatched overall “man to man”, but I don't see that “mismatch” in the makeup of these teams at this point in time aside from the fact that we are without our “primary” quarterback(s), but even so, it wouldn't really matter as OSU has a porous defense and would have to rely solely upon their offense to actually win a game against any of the top 3 teams going to the playoffs (and I doubt we will make the cut).

You will never be able to wrap up a 12-game season among 100+ different teams in 11 conferences and 17 divisions in a way that satisfies everyone. And it was damned stupid to try. Bring back the Rose Bowl and let Ohio State play Oregon, and the Orange Bowl and let TCU play Alabama on neutral sites, and let the fans and sportswriters look at scoring margines, etc., to see whether the Ohio State-Oregon winner, the TCU-Alabama winner or the Florida State-God knows who winner deserves to be called #1.

I've never understood the Big 104 accepting the Bugeaters into their conference.

There are no better options. Osu played no one and lost to a very weak team. Big 10 is a super weak conference.

If Baylor and TCU don’t make, they need to play each other again.

Bama
Oregon
Baylor
TCU
FSU

Think about it... everyone won, nothing changes.

EXCEPT one thing..

Baylor total body of work is now equal to TCU with it’s big win over Kansas State. Then the head to head kicks in an Baylor HAS to be placed higher than TCU.

That puts Baylor in the #3 spot.

Look at it this way. If Baylor had lost today would ANYONE be talking about TCU which was ranked #3 last week, and after winning today not being in the top 4? of course not! Thus the answer is easy. Baylor jumps into the #3 spot and everyone else moves down one.

Both Baylor and TCU make it into the top 4
