So dumb and I forgot.
The Missions!
They should be on everyone’s must see list.
In fact, I was in San Juan Batista yesterday.
That mission is famous for its beauty, as they all are and also for its history in film.
Every year there is a celebration of the movie Vertigo there.
The mission in Carmel is just “Ahhhh!”. Beautiful.
The one in Santa Barbara is just gorgeous.
There’s 22 so it’s not like there’s an excuse as to why anyone shouldn’t have seen at least one.
I also love the Mission Santa Ines.
Hell, I love em all.
Yes some folks just come and do the missions. Live in oside. Mission active parish. Old cemetary
Don’t forget the Reagan library. Beautiful place.
Summer before last I took my teenage granddaughter to the Santa Barbara mission. Couldn’t believe she’s lived here all her life and had never been to one. We wound up there on a Sunday just in time for mass so sat through one.
One summer when I was young my mom and stepdad took me to every mission within driving distance of LA. Lol
Carmel. sigh
Bixby Bridge is one of my favorite places on earth.
I recommend Taormina, Sicily; Highlands, North Carolina; The Greenbrier, WVa; Toledo, Spain; and the Amish areas of Ohio.
There are a couple of other spots, but I am keeping them for myself. They’re ‘mine’.
