Saw a Nimrod demonstration at an air show and was really impressed because the pilot handled that thing like a big fighter.

Richard Widmark and James MacArthur were perfect in that one.

Looking forward to it coming around again in the late movies.

I remember seeing the Nimrod. I thought they were the Brit version of an AWACS. Didn’t know they were sub chasers.

This article has been bothering me all day.

Britain is an island nation. A nuclear power. It has no ASW aircraft? The USAF, the RCAF, and the French have to send aircraft to track one sub? What if the Russians surged a half a dozen subs down the coast of Norway? I can't believe this.

The best would be to convert some aircraft already in the inventory for ASW missions. The A400M seems to fit best ASW mission. The A330MRTT is flying to high just like the P-8 Poseidon to make good use of MAD sensors. The center line refueling hose could be replaced by MAD. Torpedoes with wings could be thrown out of the rear ramp by a chute. The sonar buoys could be thrown out of a redesigned side door thought for paratroopers.

Germany still operates used P-3 Orion.
