My first experience with Sharia Law ... Waiting to pass through customs, I observed a Saudi soldier swinging a machete, casually decapitating a score of Kewpie dolls that an unsuspecting westerner had tried to bring into the country. The torsos were returned to the traveler and the heads were dumped in the trash, all in accordance with Sharia Law. As a “how do you do?” there are better ways to make a first impression.
I gotta laugh. Years ago, a Yemani storekeeper in my neighborhood showed me a Barbie he was giving to a niece. He had to paint underwear on it, and then he made a burkha out of a black plastic bag. He said her parents, who were in the USA, wouldn’t let her have it unless he did all this.
Credit where credit is due....he thought it was as silly as I did.

I’d be the jokester that would covertly substitute Ken dolls under the burka. Who would know unless they removed it? And who would complain for fear of punishment for removing the burka?
