“I was a social worker in this area for 25 yrs. Please understand that often the people that need help the most, often don’t apply for services . There are many reasons, but sometimes the system is just overwhelming to them and they fall through the cracks. Early in my career, I thought I was really helping people and then came to feel that I was setting some up for failure. I could only bend the rules so far and no one above wanted to hear what the frontline workers had to say about making real changes.”
It’s unfortunate that she doesn’t at least seek help from a church affiliated organization. Perhaps this charitable act will help lead her there.
