The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Good Evening OTR fans...11 days to Christmas! Are you taking time off? Oh, and Navy beat Army.

One thing to say about Ed...he loves his self created traditions. So much so that I bet he runs this exact lineup ever year.

That said, the Jack Benny Cuff Link show is funny...and Lux doesn’t get any more iconic than with It’s a Wonderful Life with the original cast, including all time great American and hero Jimmy Stewart. Love you Jimmy.

If you’re not in the Christmas spirit yet, get going!

Yes, it was a good time, and I was really glad to get home. I missed Keith. He stayed here, had to work, plus take care of the cats.

The TSA confiscated my imitation mini-Leatherman out of my purse at the first airport check-in, though. That irked me pretty badly, but it was my fault for leaving it in my purse. A utility tool with a one-inch pocket knife is banned? STUPIDITY IN MOTION. In the same way that because of one Muslim maniac, EVERYONE now has to take of his shoes.

How was your week? :-)

Do you fly much? Yea, there's no way they'll let you through with that. 9/11 was done only with box cutters. I'm always having to throw out toothpaste because I have too many ounces ):

I'm good. Work has been moving fast, so time's flying by. I'm working this week and then taking some time off, which will be very nice. Am ready to be left alone for a while. About to grill up some steak and my first taste of boudain. I'm pregaming with JD on 20th Century now...

I’ve flown “enough,” certainly enough to have known I should’ve taken that out and left it at home. I had the option of going back through security and mailing it home to myself from a kiosk thingy, but I didn’t want to. I was mad, and snatched up my purse after the girl searched it. Another TSA girl behind me said, “You need to calm down.” I just ignored her and walked away, fuming.

You’ll like the boudin. Sausage is good! We grilled chicken Keith had brined yesterday evening. Tonight, it might be Walmart Deli pizza, but I’m not sure what I’ll do yet.

Boy the boudin was good. It exploded as I kept it on the grill too long, but really good. Will be doing more of that.

I've got a Christmas list of 15 people and can't think of a thing to buy any of them. Usually I pour a few cocktails and the inspiration flows, but I'll abstain tonight.

Nuts, I'm stumped.

Why do you have to buy for them? Food is always a good gift, though.

HAHAHA!

Yes, and “spirits” are also a good gift for those who indulge.

Anyone know how to pipe the output of these OTR broadcasts from a PC into the Aux port of an old tube radio? I tried it once a long time ago but couldn’t get it to work.
