The Affordable Care Act is spelling the demise of free healthcare clinics across the country, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Of clinics across 28 states, almost a dozen in the past two years have cited Obamacare as their reason for shutting their doors.
Both The Good Samaritan Free Clinic in Rock Island, Illinois, and the Ninth Street Ministries Free Medical Clinic in Polk County, Arkansas, shut their doors this year saying their missions were complete. Now that most of their former clients have medical insurance, many through expanded Medicaid, they are no longer needed, they say. …

Very true, and the use of the word ‘progressive’ is the ultimate political oxymoron. This approach is anything but progressive.
The ‘progressive’ leadership get no credit when you or I give to others charitably. When they take from us, and then ‘redistribute’, they get credit. That, IMHO, is the fundamental motivation behind replacement of charity with government, as you’ve described.

That virtually no one accepts except the “Clinics”.
Unless!!!..You have your most recent IRS tax filing where you will be given a number OR...... if you are an Illegal that needs help immediately....... you will be moved to the front of the line...
These clinics are mistaking “coverage” for “care”.

I worked at this community clinic when I graduated from nursing school:
It is still going strong...very small paid staff to coordinate services....all volunteer MD’s, nurses, dentists, etc. ...all free diagnostic and treatment services donated by local hospitals, clinics, etc. FREE prescriptions filled at on site pharmacy!!! ...provided to working people who did not have health insurance provided by employer and who could not afford it on their income. The patients love and appreciate the clinic! And pay it forward by offering to help with electrical repair, plumbing and air conditioner work, cleaning the grounds, etc. Great place and I miss the atmosphere of real health-caring.
And less than 100 years later the Bard of Baltimore is proven incredibly prescient.
