Noted in the article one found mining gravel in a river bed. I’ve read previously that most swords of antiquity that are found are found in river beds, being lost during fordings. Few are actually found on battle sites because the fields are picked over by the victorious and scavengers immediately afterwards.

Few thousand years from now, someone is going to figure out why there are so many guns in bottoms of what was once ponds and lakes.
