Forget after-school appointments, picking up your kids from child care, or any other after-school commitment. No one was allowed to leave the lockdown until the order to do so came over the school PA. We ended up having to spend almost an hour past our customary quitting time in lockdown.
It turned out to be 2 imbecile students who sneaked out for lunch. They knew there were video cameras trained on the entrances, so they figured, "No problem. We'll wear these black ski masks to avoid identification by camera when we sneak back in."
A principal spotted them on the video camera and called down the lockdown. All the problems described in the video ensued because of these brain dead imbeciles who thought they'd game the system. I was unable to pick up some prescription that were waiting at the pharmacy for me because the pharmacy closed by the time I could leave the school and run another couple of essential errands. Thanks, you thoughtless imbeciles.
The worst part is, because they had no weapons, they will not be charged with anything. They will get by with merely some sort of school discipline, a slap on the wrist.
No wonder they figure they can get away with something outrageous like this. They know they can.
The students in question show poor thinking skills. They’re some of the last who should be skipping school. Isn’t it always that way though? At least they’ll be receiving Detention- maybe.
Or drop out and go the EBT government dole route.
Blame the Mooch. If lunches were better, none of this would have happened...

New York is a hypocritical fraud. For all its “liberalism” and “progressive” politics it is the most segregated state in the Union. Just compare NYC to Long Island. Compare the schools, the neighborhoods, the hospitals, virtually everything. Its two different worlds. Also try finding one child of a prominent NYC liberal that actually attends regular city public schools.

Then, of all the days for this to happen, I came home to find a group of about 30 high school kids, probably from the superbrain exclusive high school around the corner, marching down my block chanting, "Hands up, don't shoot." This was really the LIVING END to a crummy day. These pathetic deluded sheeple having had their heads filled with rabble-rousing nonsense instead of critical thinking skills sufficient to glean the truth from the evidence really ticked me off. They were mostly white or Asian, and here they were, a pathetic parody of a protesting group, raising their little fists in a show of very tame outrage.

I lived in that neighborhood when I was 5 years old. Interesting to see what’s going on there now.

Not to you perhaps, but when you have schools suspending first graders for pointing an index finger at another kid, this kind of overreaction is funny to me.
Why the panic? It’s just two kids... There’s nothing illegal about wearing a ski mask. What a bunch of chicken $hits.

If your school has metal detectors, maybe you should have a trace from the detector readings synched with the video so you can tell if the masked people are packing a weapon, even though there is a possibility of false positives.
What you are not doing is counting your blessings that it was just a scare, and not a serious event.
As for...We had 4 students in our care who were dumber than dog leavings.

Where are the educators? if you are one, you can change that, in as much as it can be changed in any individual case. As a great-grandpa, I have found most kids can be taught to have common sense, to think ahead, and to analyze information well enough to weed out BS. They DO need some guidance until they get it, but teaching them to think is way different than having them parrot back the party line or truisms of 'conventional wisdom'. So, from your faux crisis comes opportunity. It is up to you to use it.
And yes, when your blood pressure goes back down, maybe some day you will find the wherewithal to laugh at today's events.
In this day and age, dark humor keeps us sane.

Sheesh, if they locked down the schools here every time some kid came in in a ski mask, they'd go to school all summer and have winter off.
