The point is that there are 24 hours in a day.... why did you feel the need to serve yourself first?

Because by getting that detail out of the way first, I would not be tempted to do things before their time, before the clock runs out...
So I would be more effective and able to do less harm.
The source for that question was grad school course in business ethics.
The question was posed by the professor on the first day of class and we had two days to think about it. I was mid-pack and many of the class said make themselves “rich” or world peace or some other pablum.
My answer was calculated for maximum shock value and selflessness
I answered when called upon, “I would execute everyone on death row.” The professor groaned, as did the rest of the class. When queried why I chose that, I said that it was something that I thought needed to be done, it didn’t benefit me directly, was not the universal world peace BS, and it wasn’t make myself rich. I then stated that there are 24 hours in a day and I could make myself king forever at 24:59:55. There was no need to go there first, as I was already king.
I found it an interesting question to ask on a first date, because it told me much about the person without having to ask direct questions to elicit the information I was seeking.
I was responding to the idea that “piytar” was seeking a new mate. This question served me very well over the years while I was a single guy and has served well all to whom I have imparted the reasoning.
BTW, I got an A in the class.
