Even as a service member he has the right to express his opinion as a private citizen. He didn't use his rank or even allude to his being a Marine. He didn't post his status, at least not what I read. Neither did he call Obama by name. But this is where it gets interesting. For the most part he told the truth and I agree with almost everything he said. I'm not sure about the part of September 11th "being an inside job." But these are his beliefs. This administration is so thin skinned that they cannot afford for people to express their opinions, much less the truth. Censorship pure and simple and at it's worst, Gestapo tactics. If enough of us would shake the shackles of fear to speak the truth, it would make a difference.

On a side note it is interesting that I caught this post this morning. It occurred to me that the time will come when they will make an all out attempt to outlaw the Bible. They've been successful to a degree. If they can ever outlaw arms from the sanctity of peoples private homes, I predict that the Bible can't be far behind. But as long as people can access the truth via the Bible and yes, the internet, an out of control federal government can never control our thoughts, not completely. Socialism, liberalism, communism have been major disasters where ever they have been tried. They can't work because they run contrary to human nature, natural law and God's law. Remember how the Soviet Union imploded? And....look at Detroit. Bottom line...give them enough rope and eventually they will hang themselves. Pie in the sky young people may vote people like Obama into office but as the impact of their policies become so evident until even a blind idiot can see them, they may be reversed.

The pendulum has not really started swinging the other way. At least not yet. The full ramifications of obamacare haven't settled in yet, but unless this thing is changed or repealed, it will. And people are getting tired of the government's overreach, run away spending, and attempts to tax the middle class and rich out of existence. The Tea Party is a backlash against this. I don't know how much will be left of the country once this happens. And, Dear Lord, I don't see any buffers standing in the way of Obama despite the last election. Too bad most Republican leaders seem to be in bed with Obama on illegal immigration and obamacare. But the truth is a powerful thing. The Chinese have a proverb, "May you live in interesting times." We are living in interesting times. Let's keep looking up. When all is said and done, our redemption draweth nigh.

The title says “for this Facebook post”, then later in the body it states that the post is one of his posts. I would like clarification on what post brought his detention.

this story is a couple of years old, and it’s probably not someone we want to champion. he was charged with sex crimes against a minor last year, which was about a year after he was zapped by the gubmint for criticizing The Messiah.

Everybody who "serves the government" in an armed role is on that list. The more training, the higher on the list. SWAT before the beat copper, etc. Airline pilots too. You can bet DHS is ever expanding its list, using what it thinks are skill sets that pose the greatest risk to their order.

There has got to more to this story. Anyone have other sources? This kind of rant would put more than half my neighbors and at least as many registered voters in this precinct in the dock...

More data please...

Socialism, liberalism, communism have been major disasters where ever they have been tried. They can't work because they run contrary to human nature, natural law and God's law.

These various 'isms' were never intended to 'work'. They were merely the excuse for slavery, impoverishment and mass slaughter. Those who do this regards human beings a little more than, and quite often less than beasts.

One of the Southern Poverty Law Center's categories of terrorists that the Federal Government goes by is former Service men/women. And Congress passed a law giving Obama the authority to arrest without warrant and detain indefinitely without charges being filed or being tried.

The program is intended to surveil former veterans

What is a "former veteran"?

“Detained without charges for mental evaluation?” So, if you criticize Zero you are mentally ill?

Actually, liberalism is a mental illness.

For those following the posts down to here; I was getting mad!

Wouldn’t someone post what the hell he said??!!

But then I see the link has an ARTICLE posted by the guy. Hard to quote just one thing, because there isn’t one thing that stands out as seditious, libelous or threatening at all.

It is a fairly good read, except for the 9/11 part way at the end... I have heard the same points made on this website continuously. Hell, I’ve made them myself.

So if they come for the guy for THAT, the might as well haul off all the rest of us on Free Republic!!!

No need to worry...

The detention, it’s alleged, was done under a federal program codenamed “Operation Vigilant Eagle.” The program is intended to surveil former veterans who publicly express opinions critical of the government.

Once a veteran, always a veteran!

Even if all charges are dropped the Powers that Be have already meted out considerable punishment. How much will it cost this marine in attorney’s fees? What about the damage to his reputation? What opportunities are lost for future work?

It’s okay to profile a war veteran, but not a Muslim.
