What grandchildren? They will not have any grandchildren. One of them will have some woman that will carry the baby but only one of the men will be a father, the other will always be a wanna be. And the kid will ALWAYS know this.
Can you imagine the day when the kid asks how he was born and they try to come up with some lie from hell to deceive the child.

They are preemptively, deliberately and permanently denying their child's right to a mother.
This is the 2nd worst thing you can do to a child, second only to denying him his right to live at all.
Obviously this arrangement would be based on the adult's preferences, not the child's rights and needs.
