I am a huge fan of Korean Dramas, called KDramas.

As a conservative, I am appalled at the garbage that Hollywood produces. You know what I am talking about.

Several years ago, I discovered KDramas. They are movies, done in 16 - 20 episodes. They are not like American television shows, where each episode is a stand-alone program. These are a single story, told over 16 - 20 parts.

Getting used to the subtitles is quick and easy.

The content always supports hard work, capitalism, the family and good morals.

The good guys win in the end and the bad guys are punished.

And, America is always held in high regard.

If you are interested, Google Drama Fever. You may begin by trying: City Hall, Sly and Single Again and City Hunter.

Drama Fever broadcasts to ROKU Wi-Fi boxes (about $80), Samsung Wi-Fi, IPads, and desktops.

I'm also a big KDrama fan. There are some weekend dramas that are 50 episodes long. Those are typically written for an older more conservative Korean audience.

I've noticed some of the new youth oriented KDrama's are beginning to get more like what we are used to seeing here. But even they are nowhere near as bad as the boring, must be PC, fathers are always stupid, sexualized children shows that dominate TV here in the US.

My two favorite shows on now are What Happens to My Family/What's With This Family and Pride and Prejudice. (If you are looking for the Jane Austen novel version you won't find it here. This is a crime drama that gets very dark at times.)

I watch on Viki.com which is a volunteer translated movies/shows website. There is over lap in shows with the Drama Fever website. You can see Pride and Prejudice on both. But some shows only appear on one site or the other. Both Drama Fever and Viki have apps so you can watch them on mobile devices. You can watch on computer from the websites. If you have the ability to stream from device or computer to TV, you can watch that way too.

I totally agree with what you said about the content. I've found it almost impossible to watch US television. But, I've seen KDrama with religion shown and Christ mentioned and not as a swear word. They don't really celebrate all things gay. And usually the good guys win, righteous behavior is honored and unrighteous behavior is treated with scorn and shamed. It's a throw back to the old days when TV did not have to be so "inclusive" of things that are sinful and evil.

As for Jumong, I haven't gotten into the period dramas, but I have heard they can be entertaining.

It’s always great to find my kind! I am watching Pinocchio right now and it’s scary how relevant it is to what has been going on with the MSM here.

Netflix carries them after they have been out a year too. That’s where I found my gateway show.

I like that femininity is often celebrated, characters often take the moral high ground and are people you’d actually want to know (Seriously, would you want to be friends with any of the lead in Sex in the City?). They respect religion, celibacy, hard work and family in many of the shows.

Dramafever has a partnership with Hulu as well, a lot of the K-dramas are probably available on the free side there.

Pinocchio is a very well done show! Better than most Korean shows actually.

I was thinking of watching Pinocchio after the shows I’m currently watching end. I know it’s not a story about a wooden boy. I believe the story involves someone in the media who can’t lie without giving off a tell-tale sign. I wish everyone in our MSM, as well as all elected officials, would be afflicted with that very disease.

I did catch a few shows on Netflix and YouTube before I found Drama Fever and Viki.

As a conservative, I am appalled at the garbage that Hollywood produces. You know what I am talking about.

I like K-Dramas, too...but they are really too socially conservative a lot of the time. It often takes 20+ episodes to get to the first kiss, and the actors still look awkward and uncomfortable doing it - like two six-year-olds on the playground. Also, the writers carefully tiptoe around any issues that might offend the SK government - though that is common to most Asian TV and cinema.

Still, they are way better than anything Hollywood does - because Hollywood's deeper stories are always punctuated with defined-down deviancy and endless advocacy for expansion of the Welfare State.

Yes, one of the characters has “Pinocchio Syndrome” and becomes a reporter. There is an excellent monologue about why this could be a problem.

I highly recommend this one. If it stays on course for the last episodes it will be on at the top of my starter recommendation list.
