Tinsel.....strand by strand

As time went on....we were tossing it...we were after that natural look.

Now my $20 fake tree makes me happy with its' one string of lights, 20 identical bulbs...and an old sheet.

Up and down time....20 minutes!!

At 71....I'm lucky to see a Christmas.

It's all about family and a lot of great food.

Just took date nut bread out of the oven.

I was going to bake today but spent the day sick in bed. Been doing the fever/chills cycle since last night. My temp is 101 right now. Severe headache, “brain zaps” and likely a kidney infection along with my other health issues. UGH.

Might get the Cream cheese pound cake done tomorrow. This is the recipe I use - http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/winning-cream-cheese-pound-cake - very dense the way I like it. Spread some butter on it and put it on the griddle to brown it like a grilled cheese.

Probably won’t get the Triple dark chocolate cherry cheesecake done - I use a mix of recipes or the Cream Puff cake done.

This year we put up a small Nativity on the kitchen table and have a small (2') tree with little decorations sitting on the table in front of the living room window. A sting of blue lights gives a nice glow.

It's a break from the whole house decorations of the past, but staying simple helps remember the real reason.
