I always say that I not only ‘believe’ in Climate Change, I know it’s true. A mere 100,000 years or so ago North America was covered in glaciers and they’re now gone..
This statement usually shuts up the ‘believers’. Then I’ll ask, “Do you know what scares me more than Climate Change?” The answer to that is: The idea that the government can fix it. I usually ask them to name all the successful government endeavors, besides wars.
At this point they’ve usually surrendered and retreated...
Actually, it’s a mere 15,000 years ago, and the temps have risen dramatically since then. However, it’s not as warm this time around as it the last time; the numbers are inexact, but this actually looks, absent a big spike, to be the coolest interglacial out of the last four during this current ice age (you did know we’re still in one, right?).
Another good question is, “what, exactly, is the optimum temperature, then?”. One can also pass along the observation that right now CO2 concentration is so low that it’s close to being the growth-limiting factor for plant life. They’d be much happier with about twice as much as we currently have.
Good retort.
Veritas!

Excellent statement...
