What concerts/musical performances did you attend in 2014?
12/30/14

Okay. I love seeing my favorite bands in concert. The older I get, the less I get out to shows. It would be great if concerts started at 4pm, instead of 10pm. That said, here is my short list.

Elbow
Jeff Tweedy
Bonnie Prince Billy
EmmyLou Harris
Hiss Golden Messenger
Robbie Fulks
Kieran Kane, Kevin Welch and Fats Kaplan

Whenever I go to a ‘concert’ everybody looks like a bunch of old hippies......................

I had a nesting pair of Cardinals that gave a song show earlier this year and a bunch of Hummingbirds that were fun to watch. Nothing Man-Made.

Lady Antebellum - Second time I've gone to their concert and I would go again.

Tim McGraw - mostly because my wife wanted to go.

Rascal Flatts. Missed them the first time around, wasn't going to miss them again!

I think it was Rascal Flatts that had Sheryl Crow as the second opener. Don't care for her politics, but it was great to hear Sunset Boulevard live and loud. She also did another song with her band that was as good and ejoyable rock song as I heard all year, but I can't remember the name of the song. She sang a Cat Stevens song. I thought, yeah, fat chance I will ever see HIM in ANYTHING!

I went to see B.B. King back in April. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing concert. His backup band really carried the show. He’s in his late 80s now, and nowhere near the performer he was in his prime. (The main reason I went to the show was because I figured it might be my last chance to see him perform.) He had to be helped onto the stage, and they brought out a wheelchair for him when the show ended. At one point, he started to do a song he had done a few minutes earlier, and the band stopped him. He really shouldn’t be touring anymore. It was pretty sad.

REO Speedwagon at the Spokane Fair. Even though Kevin Cronin had racked-up his foot that day and sat on a chair with his leg in a cast the whole time, they were great and played all their hits. The audience loved it!

I saw Justin Hayward, lead singer and lead guitarist of the Moody Blues, on his solo tour, when he was here in St. Louis last month. The concert was great! What a talented musician! Hayward writes the lyrics, writes the music, plays the guitar, and sings—all excellent!

Last time I had those were several years ago at the German Festival in Salina.

Love Bison Burgers :D

I'm getting hungry just thinking about them (YUM!)

I live in the city but right next to a golf course, a plethora of animals. One night I couldn’t sleep and was sitting on our side patio about 3am. A shriek flying right past me sent me running into the house shaking. lol
Told hubby about it the next morning and he laughed and told me it was an owl. Scared the bejeebus out of me.

Paul Mccartney -—a great show, he sang for 3 hours non-stop.....gave the crowd what they wanted, tons of Beatles songs ...and just put on a heck of a show ...

Old Crow Medicine Show—one of the best I’ve ever seen, blew the roof off the building, they’re very talented musicians and their energy and showmanship is off the charts

Mac Davis —Mac, a guitar, and a lot of stories, he was great

plus a lot of other lesser known TX country bands, etc.

Concert #1 for me in 2015 is Don Williams....can’t wait to see him again, he’s the best

We saw David Bromberg and David Johanssen at Townhall and the Mavericks at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ.

Both excellent shows!

“I saw them at the Schaefer Music Festival in Central Park.”

Hubby went to about a million of those shows. I’ll have to ask him if he saw them.

Man, you have some good taste, GSWarrior! 2015 was a lean year for concerts for me, but I managed a couple.

Shovels & Rope opened by John Fulbright: Awesome!

Old 97's opened by Lydia Loveless: Not so good. I'm a big fan of Old 97's and have seen them live many times. I did not like their 2014 release, much of which was featured during the show. Lydia Loveless and her band were terrible.

Karen Jonas: Awesome! If you don't know of her check out her 2014 debut, Oklahoma Lottery. It was my favorite 2014 release out of the 100 or so releases I paid attention to.

Devil Makes Three: Awesome (as always)

Social Distortion

Did you hear the 2014 solo release by their guitarist, Jonny Two Bags? If not, you should check it out. It made my 2014 top ten list.
