My best friend (female) actually dragged a guy off a piece of equipment when he wouldn’t vacate it for her. He was just sitting on it, yapping away on his cell phone, and refused to move when she asked him politely. My friend can bench press 250 pounds. You don’t ever want to mess with her.

1. The bench in front of the lockers are not for your clothes, ...

My biggest gym petpeeve!

I've begun pushing them to the other end of the bench so the culprit begins to get the message.

“I’ve walked barefoot on every locker room floor from my high school to college and a dozen gyms in between and never once had athlete’s foot or any other foot ailments. “

My kid spent 4 days in the hospital with a case of MRSA, which required surgery. It was attributed to walking barefoot in a locker room. Three other people got it within a week. Of course the director of the building rarely cleaned even though we complained.

Sure you can go 20 years. I did. But it only takes one.

If you are woman check you attire before you go to the gym (using a mirror), but do not give me dirty looks for checking you out when you bend over and your black tights become transparent.

Funny story - I used to have a female friend who not change in the women’s locker-room because she claimed there was this cabal of women who always hang out totally nude.

I read the book by DDP. It’s good, but it is different than weights. Yoga alone is fine for multiple goals, just not my goals.

I understand. DDP has been great for me. I've never been able to stick to weights. I'll be 60 soon and I'm well on my way to reach my goal of 60 pushups (hopefully in 60 seconds)

Speedos. Just. Don’t Go. There.

I'll make some exceptions:

That is an excellent goal. Most 20 y/o can’t do 60 pushups in a row.

Yoga has helped me with my joints, stress, flexibility and proper breathing.
I’m sure you’ve noticed these as well. I have an interest in Masters Track and Field, so I still work on max strength.

Good luck with your goals...I’m sure you’ll reach them.

And just for variety, could someone make stretch pants for women in some color other than black? I know, I know: dark colors make your butt look smaller. I get it. But for pete’s sake, every woman in the gym is wearing the same workout clothes!

If there is a lap pool outside the steam room, REFRAIN from using it as a nice, refreshing plunge to rinse away all your sweat before you head for the shower. Nothing like dumping all your sweat directly into someone else’s workout area (the folks swimming laps).

Can you tell me how long you have been doing DDP Yoga and if you’ve been following the plan very closely?

I’ve got some dumbbells and an exercycle at home, but also some joint issues.

I take it you don’t live in NYC, where black is the color outside of the gym as well.

Maybe I didn’t dry my feet thoroughly enough, but I picked up some really nasty plantar warts. It was very hard and very painful to get rid of ‘em. I always wear shower shoes.

MRSA from locker rooms and public areas needs an avenue for infection like an open sore or cut. I’m not disputing the severity of it, but if you have any open skin in a locker room, you should be protecting it like a small child.

This is what I don’t get: I get a good amount of exercise through my job. I have always said I get paid to “work out” However at 56 it seems to be wearing me down rather than building me up. I haul a 150 pound sandblast tank around, I lift it onto and off of the truck up to 20 times a day. I pull out up to 450 feet of air hose and coil it back by hand. I do an immense amount of fast walking locating jobs (up to 20 mins a shot)Etc...

On Saturday you don’t believe the pain I’m in. Seriously. By Mon. morning I’m feeling bullet proof again.

I have been wanting to try this for some time. I bought it but never tried it. Might be a good time to start.
