NYPD Officer: Not Worth It to Make Arrests "if I Have a Chance of Getting My Head Blown Off"

With reports that the NYPD is looking into as many as 63 threats against police officers, or the mayor this week alone, news also comes of a lack of motivation among the rank and file, undoubtedly contributing to a significant drop in arrest numbers across the city.

“[There’s] just not motivation,” one police officer told [Vice]. “I’m not writing people summonses if I have a chance of getting my head blown off.” When asked if this was his own choice or a precinct-wide initiative, the officer added, “Seems like the entire department is on the same page.”

As the New York Daily News reported, “citywide summons issued this past week numbered just 2,128, compared to 26,512 a week earlier. In that period, exactly one summons was issued in the 84th Precinct, where Liu and Ramos were stationed—just one.”

And you have neatly encapsulated the problem. The blatant hypocracy and lawlessness at the top breeds contempt for the law at the base, and even among the law enforcers themselves. It shouldn’t be excused but this sickness begins and ends with the voters, so long as there is still a representative form of government still in place. Our lack of energy and activism, including lobbying, protesting and donations of our time and money in selecting and motivating candidates for office to represent our side makes us presently overmatched by the other side.

On the other hand, Leviathan, massive entrenched bureaucracies of immense and unaccountable power that are almost exclusively staffed and firmly held captive by the Democrat left have, in my opinion, gone beyond a tipping point where they are now no longer accountable to even the Executive. They’ve evolved their own defense mechanisms and immune system that prevents an attempt at reducing their power and reach.

Staffed by hive mind drones such as Lois Lerner at the IRS (to name but one of the more egregious examples) they are now programmed to consistently encode, implement and enforce the leftist agenda. They have indeed been weaponized by the democrat party.

Only once a significant percentage of the populace comes to that conclusion can we expect political affairs to take a truly ‘revolutionary’ turn.

This is their plan man. You cannot seize power without a force to back you up.

Each and every police officer has a number of civil cases brought against them personally by these skells that are represented by tax dollars 107 million for legal aid and settlements out of court. It pays to be a criminal in NY.

When the money stops coming in due to fewer citations being written, things will definitely change. Unfortunately, like odumbo, the NYPD is picking and choosing which laws to enforce there by violating the oath they took to “protect and serve”. I do NOT BLAME them for exercising caution to enhance their safety, the blame remains on the heads of De Blasio, Odumbo, Sharpton and the rest of the race baiters.

Deconstruction of the civil society is right out of the left-wing playbook. Dismantling the traditional family, traditional family values, and law and order are a big part of this process.

As terrible as it sounds, in the face of this policing slowdown, I hope that we see miscreant inner city blacks go on a crime spree throughout the city, something akin to the Visigoths or Vandals of bygone times. It may just be what is necessary in order to have Eric Holder’s long-desired “honest” discussion about race. And all the race-baiting black cowards who hide behind those racism hand grenades they keep throwing will have to finally shut up in the face of all the black on [fill in the blank] crime we will see.

Big donors do have other options that the normal run-of-the-mill citizens don't have. Many will leave, but some will begin to come together and employ their own safety net if it starts getting bad enough.

Ultimately all laws are enforced at the point of gun.

Black on black murder, no problem.

White on black criminal killing, big problem.

This is political and as transparent as the Zimmerman lie. If you’re willing to look. If blacklivesmatter, then when do we start cleaning up all these Dem controlled urban areas?

Yes things are definitely worse but there is always the chance they can get their heads blown off. After all -- he is a policeman FCOL. If he wants a safe job he should find another profession.

Doesn't make sense for a mine-remover to go jogging across the fields he's working on. Also doesn't make sense for a skyscraper builder to walk the girders w/o a safety line.

Dangerous in nature doesn't mean one should become suicidal because "it's a dangerous job".

Bloomberg’s stop and frisk program had nothing to do with the “broken windows” police theory.

That theory was based upon the premise that you stop criminals from progressing to bigger crime by pursuing then when they commit small crimes - like breaking windows or not paying at the subway.

The subjects of Bloomberg’s stop and frisk program had committed no actual crime to justify constant contact with the police. It was unjust and harassing. It’s giving the valid broken glass theory, a bad name.

The time is becoming more and more ripe for that
“national security force”, staffed by Progressive saints, to replace the “racist, bigoted, bullying” police departments all over the country.

(Would you like brown or black shirts with that?)

IMHO

no, it is about life and well being

the object would not be to quit but to make the mayor quit

the mayor can’t project power he doesn’t have

Obama should be paying close attention
