Only 11 of the 653 callouts to the address in Shard End, Birmingham, had actually resulted in anyone being taken to hospital, despite 400 being described as being for “someone generally unwell”. It means paramedics were called on average nearly TWICE A DAY.
In one shameful incident paramedics rushed to the house as the resident had a HEADACHE.
Selly Oak MP Steve McCabe wants court action against prolific time wasters after it was revealed the West Midlands Ambulance Service was called out a scandalous 5,000 times to just 30 addresses.
He said: “Someone is going to die while hard-pressed ambulance services are having their time wasted on these kind of callouts - that simply isn't acceptable."
He called for a reporting and monitoring system which followed up on offending callers.
He added: "Where calls might simply be regarded as malicious there should be a police warning, followed by a caution and prosecution.

Dallas charges out of towners $200 for an ambulance run down the street - a lot more if they actually take you to the hospital. And they aren’t ‘in network’ with major insurers, so most of that is going to come out of pocket. So if you are even in Dallas and have a medical emergency, try to leave the fire department EMTs out of it if you can.
My previous comments not-withstanding, anyone involved with a fender-bender, regardless of fault, should go to the hospital to get checked out. Whip-lash can cause you to miss days from work and...well...that is why you have insurance, no?
Plus, you get to stay overnight with consistent health attendance and, at a minimum, one hot and one cot.

It is also a jobs program since even more first responders are needed and they are generally union..so more money rolls in for the RATS. They also seem to over respond..every ambulance call here includes rolling a fire engine since they have the EMT. Some calls need them..some don’t.
The root of the problem is the law that requires “no question asked” treatment, if it’s an “emergency”.
Have the ERs require insurance or payment upfront, then just watch taxpayer savings from the moochers finding an alternative.

Right. So the way around that one is to eliminate the ambulance service entirely. It's not much different than what's happening all over the country (especially California) with hospitals closing their emergency rooms.
He should divorce her immediately. Whatever it costs in divorce court, it will be cheaper (financially and mentally) than continuing to live with her.
Have a $25 co-pay taken directly out of their next-month welfare check, and it will stop real fast.
No joke, we’ve (wife’s family) have tried to get her committed several times, she knows exactly how to keep from going in.
My FIL is very old school though, what would the neighbors think of they got a divorce? Plus he is so cheap all he sees is the money side of it I think, even my wife says they should have been divorced back in the late 60’s.
Haven’t found a Dr. that will write it up for us either, even after the infamous Christmas eve suicide threat/attempt with a Daisy Red Ryder bb gun.
(even my wife looks back on that incident and agrees it would have taken a whole lot of commitment on her part to pull that one off...)

Actually, psychotherapy is cheaper and better, and the MIL will be less likely to call the law firm of Dewey Screwem and Howe—and make the MIL pay the bill out of her budget as part of her therapy-believe me, that works.
Putting a person where they do not want to be should not be done with people who are not a danger to others-it is cruel, expensive, and it can get you sued-lawyers like to make money, too. I was a case manager for years-I’ve seen REAL crazy people, so I’m saying that...

I don’t know what the chronic caller looks like, but it’s a fact that Birmingham has the very highest concentration of R.O.P. individuals in the whole country.

In my experience, the blacks always expect a sandwich. The whites always expect dilaudid.
80% of our health care expenses are spent on 20% of the population. Some of that goes to unfortunate people born with congenital problems. Some goes to end-of-life care. A LOT goes to Medicaid recipients who have no skin in the game. It is a free service for them. What happens when you offer something for free?
Until you fix that problem, there is no point in talking about healthcare “reform.”
I have probably visited the ER maybe half a dozen times in the past 20+ years. some of our frequent liars do that in a month and like I said, that's just my ER, they're pulling this crap at every hospital in town like it's their job.
