De Blasio speaks out about NYPD cops' back-turning at officers' funeral: 'They were disrespectful to the families'

‘I think it defies a lot of what we all feel is the right and decent thing to do,’ the embattled Mayor said Monday during a press conference in which he and police Commissioner Bratton touted a 4.6% drop in crime citywide in 2014. Ironically, the number of summonses issued during the week ending Sunday dropped more than 90% compared to last year in a work slowdown as part of the rank-and-file’s continued protest against de Blasio over perceived anti-cop sentiments.

Seems to me the fellow police officers were also the family.

Like Obama this moron just can't stop doubling down.

The classy response would've simply been to acknowledge the raw feelings and commit to improving relations.

Ask the families themselves if they felt disrespected by the actions of the police officers who turned their backs on De Blassio. He doesn’t speak for these families. I’d bet they’d say no.

I visited the USSR when I was 17. Unlike De Blah blah blah, I (a teenager from an affluent suburb) almost kissed the soil of the USA, upon return. Knowing this guy went there, and thought it was a great place, tells me all I need to know, about him, and it sure isn’t good. Keep in mind, they only let you see what was “approved”. I can’t even imagine what the rest of the country was like.

Soon, the lack of revenue from ticket writing will start impacting the budget.

Then, heads will role.

If the cops REALLY wanted to disrespect the families, then they wouldn’t have shown up by the thousands at the funeral, all in uniform, would they?

And the ball is in YOUR court now, de Blasio - start mending fences by formally denouncing that race-baiting a-h Al $harpton and his constant anti-cop rhetoric. Your move, Bill ...

I’m with the cops on this one.

New York may descend back to the 1970s: crime, graphiti but most of all a general sense of fear. Unless you were wealthy.

A visit to the USSR as a student inspired Iowa Senator Joni Ernst to take her first interest in politics and and to join the US military. She was shocked at the primitive state of the USSR.

While normally I would say a funeral is not the best place to express a political opinion, this is an exception. DeBlasio slimed the NYPD, smeared the NYPD, and embraced fellow anti-police travelers both before and after the assassination of two NYPD officers. His very presence at the funeral was offensive, and an overtly political act. THAT is disrespectful to the families of the fallen.

I cannot, and will not, blame any of the officers who turned their backs on him. DeBlasio has shown his true colors, and cannot be trusted by the NYPD to look out for them.

Of course, getting a cop killed isn’t as bad as the remaining cops being pissed at you. This dipsh*t needs to go.
