Business owner killed, three perps injured during robbery-gone-bad at Shawnee gun store (Kansas)

The co-owner of a Shawnee gun store was fatally shot and three suspects were wounded during an attempted robbery Friday afternoon.

The gunfight broke out after four robbers entered She’s A Pistol, at 57th Street and Nieman Road, about 2:10 p.m., according to Shawnee police.

Jon Bieker, 44, of Gardner, who co-owned the business with his wife, Becky Bieker, died later at a hospital, police said.

“Jon was a kind of a quiet guy, very conscientious,” said Sandy Kaspar, who for several years operated a sign language business on the lower level of the building.

“He and Becky took great pride in their store. I remember the day she came down to introduce herself to me; she was very excited. The store was their dream.”

The shooting started after one robber struck Becky Bieker in the face, police said. Police didn’t know who fired first or how the gun battle unfolded, but it left Jon Bieker and two robbers with critical gunshot wounds. A fourth person, one of the robbers, had less-serious gunshot injuries.

Jon Bieker and two of the robbers were taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

One of the robbers remained in critical condition Friday night, and the other was listed in fair condition. Another patient at Overland Park Regional was also in fair condition, but it was unknown if that was the other robber or Becky Bieker.

Another injured person was taken to the University of Kansas Hospital where a condition report was not available.

I'm not familiar with this shop but I used to live very close to there.

Sorry to hear of this.

"The shooting started after one robber struck Becky Bieker in the face,.."

Let me guess, the perps are black?

I read several articles on this and none mentioned the race of the perps or published photos.

So, yeah, they’re black.

It’s now murder, and I would suspect that all four of the perps will be facing the death penalty.

That’s terrible.

But what the heck is a “robbery gone right”...they always talk about “robberies gone bad,” but they’re bad by definition.

KCTV5 has several ‘on scene’ reporters, and one of them is black. Which always means the incident involves black criminals or black victims.

9 posts thus far, and not one dumb-ass has used the term “african-American” yet... Excellent. Maybe this nation can be saved after all.

Not in Kansas. The death penalty is never enforced because it might hurt some poor murderer’s feelings. Leftists (including all KS newspaper editors) will say the owner deserved to die because he owned a gun shop. They won’t have the guts to say it directly, but it will be strongly implied.

When the old late great America was on it’s way to become the lone superpower, they’d hang these people after a fair 30 day trial. Zip done.

I would guess there is more than ample evidence here.

Nowadays the courts, attorneys, prosecutors etc, have made a lucrative living taking years and years to try the violent, with repeated endless retrials, shrinks, appeals, interviews, news conferences,on and on. Like most everything else regarding big G, it’s become a circus.

“Not in Kansas. The death penalty is never enforced . . ..”

Well, at least two of the perps got the death penalty today. Too, bad Mr. Bieker didn’t live to see it.

Prayers up for this American family tonight.

Three against one, and the owner managed to hit all three. The deceased owner is truly a hero, it's a shame to have lost such a capable man. God bless his wife.
