“I really do love the original “The Thing” far more then the remake” Agreed. It should be taught at film schools as a premier example of how to move a story along with dialog and atmosphere. Christian Nyby gets the credit for directing but Howard Hawks fingerprints are all over it.

That being said, Carpenter’s take was, I think, pretty gripping itself and remains one my favorite horror flicks. “Where were you, Childs?”
