EXCLUSIVE: Snake Plissken is back! Fox has emerged from competitive bidding and closed a deal to remake the 1981 John Carpenter-directed cult classic Escape From New York. Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman’s The Picture Company will produce. The original was released by Avco Embassy, and the rights were owned by Studiocanal. Carpenter will be an executive producer and will exert creative influence over the project. Fox’s Mike Ireland brought it in and will steer. The hope is to reinvent the property with an eye toward launching a new franchise.

It would need a complete re-write first. That film plays like a liberal's wet dream, trashing conservatives and evangelicals.
How can you possibly improve on a movie that has Lee Van Cleef saying “Plisken” in to a radio 482 times?

American Gods is being turned into a TV Show by Starz. Sandman has been in development hell forever, might someday be a movie or TV show. Fox is supposed to be working on a Lucifer show, but given the way Constantine bombed I’m betting they dump it. As a shared universe the rights on Thieves World are just way too complicated, and get more complicated every time one of the writers dies.
Dave Bautista proved he could handle it in Guardians. Still, remaking this is a mistake.
I would love to see Roger Zelazny's Amber series on film. Just imagine one of the hellrides through shadow with modern CGI.
Snake will be a white guy, however he will be a bumbling Will Farrel type fool.
Brain will be a Black Man,
Brain’s Girlfriend on the other hand will be a modern empowered women, who will constantly come to the rescue of Snake & Brain when their whacky schemes go awry or their bumbling gets them in trouble.
Oh and even though Brain’s Girlfriend is only 90lbs, while Snake & Brain run from fights or get their @$$es quickly kicked, she easily takes on and beats up multiple 250+ lb guys all by herself while wearing heals & tight leather.
They will probably cast the queer from Big Bang Theory or How I Met Your Mother to show queers can be tough.

If it trends the way pretty much like all “remakes” have been cast recently, it will star Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, or Chris Rock as the lead, with appropriate hangers-on as required. Hopefully, they will not succeed in getting The Mooch or The Won in spot appearances, and if they decide to throw in a scene starring Sean Hannity as a tv commentator using his on-air cast then for God’s sake do NOT let him put on that bloody disgusting skank Tamarra Jackson-Holder as an “opposing position guest speaker” AGAIN. Please!

The Middleman parody was really good and will take it over the remake disaster that will probably occur.
