In light of record breaking ticket prices for this weekends NFC championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers, Seattle City Councilmember and Socialist Alternative member Kshama Sawant is calling for the creation of the 13th Man Now initiative.
$500 for a ticket is an injustice to all the working Seahawks fans out there, Sawant said at a rally on Capitol Hill Tuesday. The dream of seeing a game in the Clink as a member of the 12th class is a false hope, attainable only by heirs of season ticket-holders.
Not all of us were born with a Silver Bullet Coors Light in our mouth.

Soccer is very big in Seattle. I think the attendance at Sounders games is some of the highest attendance in the country for MLS.
They play in the same stadium as the Seahawks.
A lot of opposing teams complain it’s really hard to play against the Seattle Sounders because they play at that noisy bandbox called CenturyLink Field—especially when they open up the upper deck levels.
And that's just the players...
Soccer will grow until no one can afford to go to a game.
Maybe it’s because I’m old, but I find the very best way to watch football these days is on a 46 inch HD television, often with the sound turned off.
I’ve been to a couple of Sounders games and it can get fairly loud, but nothing like the Seahawks loud (of course, there are about twice as many people at the Seahawks games).
I get a little kick of the fans at one end of the field (down by where the players tunnels are). I’ve not been to soccer games in Europe or elsewhere, but it reminds me a little of the few I’ve seen on TV, they have their regular “singing chants” (I’m not sure what they’re called), wave fairly large flags, etc. Definitely die-hard fans.
Can’t wait for the game Sunday, sure hope we win.
GO HAWKS!!!!
It’s going to take something of a miracle for the Packers to beat the Seahawks this coming Sunday. Hobbled Aaron Rodgers plus record-breaking crowd noise—good luck dealing with that!
Take it from a forty-year Viking fan. When you play the Packers, "miracles" come dressed in their very own black and white striped shirts.
